Chromosome numbers of 29 species and one variety under six genera have been studied of which the chromosome numbers of 9 species and one variety are recorded for the first time. Five species show different chromosome number from previous reports. Further cyto-taxonomic evidence confirm that Aneilema (sensu stricto) is distinct from Murdannia. Majority of the Indian species of Commelina and Cyanotis (sensu stricto) show x=15 and 12 respectively. A new genus name Amis-chophacelus Rolla et Kammathy has been proposed for the ochraeflora section of Cyanotis (sensu lato) on the basis of clear cyto-taxonomic evidence. Aneuploidy, euploidy and intra-specific polyploidy have been observed in different species of Murdamia. Both morphological as well as cytological evidence do not suggest the separation of Aclisia from Pollia. Consideration of the hairy form of Streptolirion as S. volubile var. khasiana seems to be approprate. A new combination is proposed.- Deciduous Forests of Devarayadurga, Mysore State

The present paper gives a preliminary account of the flora of the deciduous forests of Devarayadurga near Tumkur, Mysore State. The general composition of the vegetation which varies considerably from the valleys to the high hill tops has been described. 203 species belonging to 59 families of vascular plants are enumerated, of which families like Fabaceae, Poaceae, Asteraceae and Gommelinaceae are well represented.- Observations on the Flora of Siang Frontier Division, North East Frontier Agency (NEFA)

Biligirirangan hills in Mysore State are somewhat isolated from the other hill ranges in the Western ghats, and the Nilgiris. This sketch of the vegetation is based on detailed collections made by the authors as well as the collections made some 28 years ago by Barnes. The enumeration includes 825 species of vascular plants under 484 genera and 133 families.- Floristic Research Work in Andhra Pradesh

The present paper using the labour disposition criterion proposed a method of estimating the level of landholding which can be used to estimate the number of marginal and small farmers in the State of Orissa. It was observed that the relative share of marginal and small farmers show a systematic tendency to vary with development. It is found that the marginal farmers are more in areas where there is more of development whereas the small farmers are more in the areas with less development, suggesting that a process of differentiation is set into motion with the process of development. However, one gets a contradictory observation of superior resource base of small and marginal farmers, compared to large and medium farmers. While "Semi-feudalism" hypothesis can explain the high resource base and the process of disintegration through lack of withholding capacity, it ignores the process of development and It. capacity to create differentiation. The alternative way is to look at the problem through a development process leading to pocket wise development. On the basis of the postulate that efficiency is positively related with size in advanced pockets and Inversely In backward pockets the paper suggests that the rate at which development creates differentiation is much faster than the Semi-feudal differentiation.- A Note on "Cost Concept and Family Labour in Farm Management Studies "

THE various cost concepts developed in the studies. "Economics of Farm Management" sponsored by the Directorate of Economics and Statistics, Ministry of Food and Agriculture, appear to be due to the diverse opinions held as to the inclusion in the cost of crop production, of the items like rent of land, interest on owned capital, family labour, etc. Of the coat concepts, 'A1' includes all costs except rent on land, interest on owned capital and family labour, while 'A2' includes rent of leased-in land in addition to cost 'Al'.- Certain Differences in the Concepts and Definitions used in Farm Management Studies
